A remake of the one-word messenger. Tap a friend's name and their phone shouts "Oi!". Add friends by username or QR code, send nudges and winks, and Oi back straight from the notification. It runs on iCloud, so there is no account to create. App Store release is being prepared.

What It Does

Tap a name, send an Oi

Each friend is one big row. Tap it and their phone plays the Oi sound with a double-knock haptic. There is nothing to type.

Oi back from the banner

Notifications show the sender's photo and are grouped by friend. Press Oi back on the banner to reply without opening the app.

Nudges and winks

After MSN Messenger. Send a nudge that shakes the screen, or a wink: Kiss, Knock, Heart, Laugh or Guitar Smash. Reduce Motion keeps only the haptics and a still emoji.

Add friends your way

Type a username, scan a friend's QR code with the Camera, or send your invite link.

Fake Ois are blocked

Before an Oi is shown, the app checks that it really came from the person it names. Forgeries arrive silently as "Blocked a fake Oi".

You decide who can reach you

Block anyone with a long press, or turn on Only friends can Oi me so Ois from people outside your list arrive silently.

FAQ

Common Questions

Do I need to create an account?

No. Pick a username and Oi uses your iCloud account to send and receive. There's no email or password to set up.

How do I add a friend?

Tap the + row and type their username. Or open the Camera and scan the QR code on their You screen, or open the invite link they shared.

Who can see my Ois?

Each Oi is deleted after 24 hours. Until then it sits in Oi's public iCloud database, so someone who knows your username and uses developer tools could see who sent you Ois in that time. The privacy policy explains this in full.

How do I delete my account?

Tap your username, then Delete account. This frees your username and removes your friends list. It can't be undone.
