FAQ

Common Questions

Do I also need MacPair Host?

Yes. Install MacPair Host 1.0.9 or later on the Mac you want to control, then use the macOS client or the re-signed iOS client on your other device.

Why is the iOS IPA unsigned?

The open-source project does not ship certificates, provisioning profiles, or signing credentials. Verify the published checksum, then use a reputable sideloading tool to sign the IPA with an Apple ID or team you control.

Can I connect over the internet?

MacPair does not provide a public relay. Put both Macs on a private network you control, such as Tailscale, then connect normally.

Why is the download not notarized?

The direct-download channel uses ad-hoc signing and is not Apple-notarized. For a release marked Live, verify its checksum and source manifest, use the documented macOS first-launch approval, or build from source.

Is terminal access automatic?

No. Terminal access is an explicit host capability and should remain disabled unless you need it for that trusted session.
