FAQ

Common Questions

Why does macOS warn when I first open the app?

The direct-download channel uses ad-hoc signing and is not Apple-notarized. For a release marked Live, verify its checksum, then Control-click and choose Open or use Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. Never disable Gatekeeper globally.

Does ScreenHarbor require an account or cloud relay?

No. LAN discovery and peer connections are local-first. For access between networks, use a private network you control, such as Tailscale.

Which permissions does the host need?

Screen Recording is required to share the display, and Accessibility is required for approved keyboard and pointer control. macOS requires you to grant both manually.

Can an AI agent approve pairing?

Only after it presents the pending device name and full fingerprint to you and uses an exact fingerprint-bound approval command. Unknown requests must never be auto-approved.
